Volunteer With The Allegany Museum
You don't have to be an historian to play an important role on the Allegany Museum team. You'll find that sharing your time and talent as a volunteer is as rewarding as it is fun. Learn local history, meet new people, help preserve the memory of what our community used to be, and actually do something to turn around the economic decline of the past 50 years.
If you are 18 years of age or older and interested in becoming an Allegany Museum volunteer, please download complete this application form . Once you complete the form, email to firstname.lastname@example.org, drop it off at the Museum, or post to Allegany Museum, 3 Pershing St Cumberland MD.
HOST/HOSTESS Volunteers greet visitors when they come into the museum and make them feel welcome. Hosts/hostesses are not expected to give tours or be an expert in local history. Exhibits are self-explanatory and visitors usually prefer to explore on their own.
Hosts/hostesses are asked to work a three hour shift once every two weeks (or more or less, depending on the individual’s wishes).
Tuesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 4:00
GRAND COURTROOM CREW
A crew is needed to move, set up, and take down tables and chairs for parties and special events in the Grand Courtroom. The crew also sets up and takes down special exhibits.
We will need volunteers to help with the Way We worked exhibition, Feb-March 2017, the Whiskey Rebellion Fest June 2017, and for many other specific projects.
Like the Allegany Museum Facebook Page and keep in touch with the blog on our website for further opportunities.
